The Resurrection Machine Powers Up

"The construction of resurrection machine is somewhat complete," Orion said solemnly, laying a hand against the glass of the device's tank. "Now, we must see if it functions."

"How does it work?" Vespera asked.

"We will need your discovery from the Obsidian Depths," Orion replied. "Place the Petrastone Relic here," the scholar indicated the plates on the machine.

Vespera withdrew the Petrastone Relic from her pack, feeling a pulse of strange magic from the amber-like stone as she deposited it within the resurrection machine. A spark of energy flickered from the Petrastone Relic to the machine's metal surface, causing the resurrection's machine's lights to flare and flicker briefly before dimming again.

"Oh, good!" Rose cried, taking notes. "That worked -- almost. Something definitely happened."

"Yes," Orion agreed. "But the resurrection machine doesn't yet have enough power."

Vespera rubbed her hands together, thinking about the pulse of magic she felt from the Petrastone Relic. Some of the other stones she had discovered while Mining had a similar aura...maybe they could help?

"I have an idea," Vespera said, digging in her pack for a handful of Petrastone Amber. Approaching the machine, she began to place the chunks of amber onto its energy plates one by one. 

"It's working," Orion remarked with wonder. "The Amber is powering up the machine!"

As the stack of Petrastone Amber on its energy plates grew, the resurrection machine began to hum and glow more brightly. First a handful of amber, then a dozen chunks -- by the time Vespera had deposited her entire supply of the rare material, the resurrection machine was magical golden light as it whirled loudly!

The golden glow swirled around the piled Petrastone Amber, consuming and transforming it. When the light faded, several neat piles of Petrastone Residue were sitting atop the machine's bench. The powerfully magical dust was throwing off sparkles of yellow magic like sparks from a campfire.

"Fascinating," Rose scribbled more notes down in her notebook as Vespera carefully collected the Petrastone Residue. "Powering up the machine created that magical residue...I wonder what it is used for?"

"Yeah.." Orion responded. "It seems to be a by-product of using the machine - perhaps it can be used for someone else, something.. exciting? The next step of resurrection is to insert a Complete Fossil, but I'm still tweaking the configuration to allow that to happen."

Vespera reached over to the big power button on the side of the machine "OK, so.. should we turn the machine off for now?". Orion thought for a moment - "You can turn the machine back off if you want.. although the Relic and Amber are now consumed, so you'll need more of those if we're going to turn it back on again. Furthermore if you do turn it off - the power will need to go somewhere, so I suspect more Residue will be created."

"Got it" Vespera said firmly. "Let's leave it running for now then until you figure out what the next step is. In the mean time, I'm going to explore the Fossil Cavern again, to see if this Residue can be used for something.. interesting.."

TL;DR

- The Resurrection Machine arrives in Sienna Canyon but is not currently fully functional.
- "Powering Down" will consume your items but award additional Petrastone Residue
