Identifying The Ancient Fossils

Rose was sitting at her laboratory bench she had setup in Sienna Canyon, near the half-constructed shell of the experimental Resurrection Machine, nose buried in a book while Dex, her Twilight Harlowin companion, dozed at her feet. "Welcome back," she replied, still looking down at the pages. Only after she had finished reading the passage she had been so engrossed in did she look up to greet Orion with a smile.
"Is that the tome of ancient illustrations?" Orion asked with interest, stepping closer to look over Rose's shoulder. "I have some notes on the nature of the fossilized creature now -- perhaps enough to find a match."
"You think so?" Rose cried, excited. "Let's look right away."
Together, the researchers flipped through the ancient reference book page by page. Until...
"There!" Orion cried. "That looks familiar..."

The illustration showed a lithe, two-legged creature with a feathery crest and tail. It also showed signs of winglike feathers on its forelimbs -- although they looked too small to maintain flight. The ancient inscription lacked intricate detail, but it bore a remarkable similarity to the fossil imprints in Echoes Cavern!
"It's called the Pheros," Orion read from the ancient illustration's caption.
"This is it," Rose said wonderingly. "This is the creature whose fossils we're discovering -- the creature we may be able to resurrect!"
The Weary Traveler and The Fossil
Back at the
Fossil Chamber in
Sienna Canyon, adventurers painstakingly aligned the
fossils with the grooves of the
Fossil Wall. The intricate design slowly began to take shape, but several pieces were still missing.
Vespera pondered the situation. "I need to reach out to the Weary Traveler," she thought. "Perhaps he knows what this missing energy piece is and where the last fossils can be found." She turned to River, her trusted companion, and the two set out for Shadow Veil Pass, hoping the Traveler was still in town.
Upon arriving, a renewed sense of determination filled Vespera as she scanned the streets. Just as she was locking up her shop to begin the search, she turned—and there he was, the elusive Traveler.
"Still searching for me, are you?" the man quipped, his voice warm with amusement.
Relieved, Vespera smiled. "I’ve been hoping to find you! I need your help figuring out where the fossil you sold me came from."
The man smirked, extending a hand. "I’m Klaven. Nice to officially meet you."
Vespera shook his hand. "It’s wonderful to meet you too, Klaven. Please, can you show me where you found it?"
The Discovery
Klaven gestured for Vespera to follow. “I’ll show you,” he said, pulling out a weathered map. Despite her familiarity with Eerie Caves, he led her through a hidden passage she’d never noticed before. The path twisted and turned until they emerged into an awe-inspiring cavern filled with glittering obsidian formations.
“Welcome to
Obsidian Depths,”
Klaven said with a smile. "This is where I’ve found many
fossils. I’d start digging here."
Adventurers joined Vespera, and they began excavating the depths with renewed hope. Hours passed as they unearthed familiar fragments, but suddenly, a cry of excitement rang out.
"Vespera, come quick!" one explorer called.
Hurrying over, Vespera’s eyes fixated on one of the missing fossils getting more and more excited. They were close now—only two pieces remained.
As the group regrouped, Klaven approached Vespera with a sly grin, flashing a small but remarkable item in his hand.
“If you want to do more than just collect
fossils,” he said, “you’ll need one of these.” The object shimmered faintly in the low light—a
Petrastone Relic.
Determined, Vespera and the adventurers scoured the depths of Obsidian Depths over the next day. Their efforts bore fruit as they uncovered the remaining two fossils and, finally, a Petrastone Relic.
Returning triumphantly to the Fossil Chamber, Vespera met Scholar Orion, who had traveled from the library in Halo Haven to be closer to the site of ancient energy and contribute to the investigation. Vespera carefully placed the last fragments into the Fossil Wall. The intricate design now complete, it seemed to glow faintly with latent energy.
Turning to Scholar Orion, Vespera held up a strange rock they’d discovered while mining. “What do you think this is?” she asked.
Orion studied the rock with a furrowed brow. “This…this might be the key to unlocking the fossils’ true potential. Let me investigate further.” As the Fossil Chamber began to hum with anticipation, Vespera knew they were on the verge of something extraordinary.

Mining Accessibility Update
Mining's functionality has received an update! The new "Skip Mining" button will instantly collect all the hidden items your pickaxe can discover, while also automatically breaking 100 rocks. Skipping Mining includes a 10 second wait timer to ensure fairness time-wise for those that are using Mining normally.
If you would like the "Skip Mining" button to appear, navigate to your User Settings and activate the "Accessibility Buttons" toggle. Right now this toggle only interacts with the "Skip Mining" feature, but in the future it will affect more features as we continue our work to make Santae accessible to all!
TL;DR
★ Orion and Rose identified the name of the fossil species: Pheros!
★ Vespera, with the help of the weary traveler Klaven, discovered the Obsidian Depths in Eerie Caves: A new mining location where the remaining Pheros fossils can be discovered.
★ Vespera and the Adventurers have unearthed a rare material, the Petrastone Relic. Orion is investigating further, but this object could be the key to fossil resurrection!
★ New user setting option: Toggle on "Accessibility Buttons." Currently, the only effect of this toggle is to activate a "Skip Mining" option in Mining.
